Services Team 

Volunteer Positions on the Services Team

1. Communion Preparation Team: 

  • Prepare and arrange communion elements for each service. Clean the trays after the services.  
  • First Sunday of the month 
  • 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm 

2. Baking Communion Bread: 

  • Bake the bread the day before communion and send it to the Communion Team. 
  • The church will provide the recipe.

3. Instrumentalist: 

  • Play an instrument (we are open to potentially having any instrument) on the worship team. 
  • You must pass an audition, demonstrating proficiency on your instrument. 
  • We read chord sheets and do not use sheet music; you must be able to play by ear/improvise. 
  • Rehearsal is at 7 am on Sunday, and the commitment is for the 9 am and 11 am services; the 1 pm service is optional. 

4. Vocalist: 

  • Serve as a singer in the worship team. 
  • Must pass an audition, demonstrating accurate pitch, rhythm, and solid tone. Must be able to sing harmony by ear. 
  • Rehearsal is at 7 am on Sunday, and the commitment is for the 9 am and 11 am services; the 1 pm service is optional. 

5. Worship Co-Leader: 

  • You must first pass the audition as a vocalist, and after faithfully serving for at least a few months, you can audition to become a worship co-leader. 
  • Co-leads help select and lead songs. 
  • Must serve for all three services on Sunday. 

6. Usher Team

6. 1 Usher in General

  • The Usher ministry seeks to foster a positive worship experience by welcoming and assisting guests, facilitating offerings and the Holy Communion, maintaining a safe, distraction-free environment, and answering any questions our guests may have or finding an answer for them. 
  • The candidate loves and follows Jesus; is gracious, caring, enthusiastic, and friendly; is dependent and prompt; is a peacemaker, not argumentative; is well-groomed and properly dressed. 
  • An usher in-person training session is set up between the candidate and an usher leader to go through the ‘City Church Usher Team Manual.’ Following this, a shadow session is arranged on one Sunday to show the candidate the tasks to be done during the service before officially scheduling the candidate. 
  • Serve at 9 am, 11 am & 1 pm services. Meet 30 min before the service starts. 

6.2 Usher Leader

  • Has no assigned position. Floats to support others and deal with emergencies. 
  • Assign positions and brief roles and responsibilities. 
  • Lead the team’s beginning and closing prayers. 
  • Distribute welcome flyers before the MC welcome. 
  • Count offerings. 
  • Count the number of attendees, newcomers, and volunteers. 

7. Production Team: 

  • Each new volunteer must pass an interview and an audition process  
  • Training is provided. 
  • Training consists of committing two consecutive Sundays from 7 AM Setup to the end of 9 AM and 11 AM Service.  
  • During those two weeks, the volunteer will be trained via a shadow method (Following and watching the tasks done) for the first week and a hands-on approach for the second week. 
  • After two weeks, we will meet and evaluate whether this position is right for you and adjust from there. 

7.1 Sound Engineer

  • Live FOH Sound. 
  • Live Stream Sound.
  • Must have Musical sensibilities.  
  • Able to discern the difference between a balanced and unbalanced sound. 
  • Knowledge of sound equipment and acoustics is essential but not required. 
  • Responsible for sound checks, equipment placement, volume, and quality of sound. 
  • Prior knowledge of the Behringer x32 Sound mixer is a bonus. 

7.2 Projection

  • Responsible for the presentation of graphics, motion graphics, and video playback during the services.   
  • Being proficient in ProPresenter 7 software is a bonus. 
  • Able to input data into the computer prior to or during the services.   
  • Multi-task and take directions from others. 

7.3 Camera Operator

  • Able to choose, assemble, set up, and tear down Camera equipment.  
  • Operate the camera for church services (9 am, 11 am).  
  • The ability to frame and compose shots.  
  • The ability to perform camera moves accurately.  
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.  
  • The capacity to multi-task and take directions from others. 

7.4 Video (Switcher) Mixer: 

  • Switches between video sources—such as camera shots and video inserts. 
  • They also maintain a balance of color and contrast between the studio cameras. 
  • Responsible for the creative look of a production by selecting which shots to use at any given moment.  
  • The mixer views the action on the stage through a bank of screens, each linked to one of the cameras, while issuing clear and concise commands to Camera Operators. 

7.5 Media Team

  • Consists of Camera operators, video Editors, and Graphic designers. 
  • Able to create content for use within various ministries. 

7.6 Social Media Team

  • Create content for social media, such as IG, Facebook, YouTube, etc. 
  • Curate graphics and media for posts weekly. 

7.7 Producer: 

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Team at any event.  
  • To ensure that desired program outcomes and objectives are achieved.  
  • The person must have adequate knowledge and information about the program, be able to make informed decisions and communicate with the team members regarding the nuances of the program.
