Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to read more of the Word?
Have you stuck with it? It can be hard to read without structure and some friends to join you on the journey. Guess what! You don’t have to do it alone.
Join City Church’s accountability group to follow a chronological reading plan with like-minded believers over 365 days. That’s right! We’ll finish the Bible in one year! We did it in 2024 and will do it again!
The group will start reading together on Monday, Jan 6. Register by Sunday, Jan 5. Every day, you will send a thumbs up in the group if you’ve taken just 15 minutes to read the daily assignment.
This free reading plan, The Bible Recap With Tara-Leigh Cobble, comes with a daily podcast episodes for auditory learners and daily videos for visual learners to help you remember what you read. You can use the Bible you already have or the free Bible app by Life.Church (YouVersion) to read and track progress.

In summary, there are three steps every day:
- Listen to or read the text assigned for the day
- Listen to or read the “recap” (summary of what you read)
- Send a thumbs up in the accountability group after you read
BONUS: If you want to go deeper, then join us for weekly meetings to discuss what we read that week. One meeting is in person each month. The other meetings are online.
Reading the Bible in chronological order puts the passages in order of historical events, helps you understand everything in context and lets you see a story unfold just like you’re watching a movie. This type of reading plan is excellent for people who want to see the connections between events.
Because you’re reading in a group, you will have more motivation to keep going when you reach tough-to-read chapters like genealogies AND be able to share your thoughts and questions with people who are LITERALLY on the same page as you.
Reading the Word daily will:
- Help you build a stronger relationship with God and understand who He is 2nd Peter 1:3
- Give you a weapon to fight the enemy Ephesians 6:17; Luke 4:1-13
- Give you more confidence to share the Gospel with others or pray for others 1st Peter 3:7; Luke 12:12, Romans 8:26
- Transform, mature and sanctify you 2nd Timothy 3:16-17; John 17:17
- Provide direction Psalm 119:105
- Help stabilize you through the storms of life Matthew 7:24-27
