Sound Ministry

What is this Ministry?

• The sound ministry is a support ministry that seeks to assist the choir, dance, drama, music, preaching, and translation ministry teams in their roles of edifying the congregations of BICF. As well as running the sound during the Sunday morning service and balancing the needs of the various ministry teams it supports, the sound team is also engaged in keeping the sound equipment well maintained, and helping set up/tear down the sound for the service on Sunday, as well as helping with sound needs at special BICF events.

What is my commitment? How often? What do I do?

• The goal for the Sound Team is to have a different team each week and to have a pool of willing and trained sound technicians to serve at different special events. If you desire to join this team, you would be asked to serve at least one Sunday per month, be available for special events as necessary, attend training sessions and train others as your experience grows.

Do I need any training? How can I get it?

• You do need training to help out with the Sound team. This is given in the form of on the job training where you will observe and take part in the use of the equipment alongside a more experienced volunteer; gaining different insights from different people. There will also be occasional seminars and training sessions which will help extend and fill in the gaps of your expertise.

What should I do to get involved? Who do I contact?

• Talk to Paul Childs ( childsey01(a)yahoo.co.uk) or one of the sound technicians on Sunday morning.

Why should I do this ministry?

• In serving in the sound ministry you will be able to provide the whole congregation with the ability to clearly hear what is sung and preached at BICF each Sunday morning. In recording the service you are also enabling others from non-English speaking backgrounds to participate in the service via the translation ministry.

• If you feel that you don’t have much in the way of technical expertise to offer; the sound ministry provides an environment where you can gain some skills in a new area. Beijing is a rapidly developing city technologically, and you will be surprised at how useful the skills learnt in the sound ministry are for being able to better understand and communicate with the people of Beijing.
