NewcomersWhat is this Ministry?• Newcomers is the ministry that welcomes newcomers to the church and helps usher them into small groups and ministry. It involves planning Newcomers Lunches, coffee gatherings, calling people to welcome them to Beijing and helping create welcome packets for people. What is my commitment? How often? What do I do?• If you’d like to be involved with this ministry, it means volunteering to call newcomers for 30 minutes each week and working with the team leaders to maintain supplies and plan lunches and coffee gatherings. The lunches and coffee gatherings (one event each month) require some planning in advance. Do I need any training? How can I get it?• No training required. Calling Newcomers and welcoming them to Beijing requires a cursory knowledge of ministry options in the church and small group options, but beyond this, a basic knowledge of this ministry and a conversation with the team leader will be sufficient. What should I do to get involved? Who do I contact?• Contact the office ( zgc(a)bicf.org ) if you’d like to get involved. Why should I do this ministry?• Beijing is a big place! And the church is supposed to be a place of warmth and welcome, a home away from home. If you have the gift of hospitality and a desire to see newcomers experience the joy of community and not “fall through the cracks,” consider joining our team! |
